The MHRD has launched a group of DTH channels solely dedicated to the purpose of transmitting educational contents for complementing higher education. Amongst these new channels, a bouquet of 10 channels focused on Humanities, Social Science, Basic Sciences, Applied Sciences are entrusted to the Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), New Delhi. One of the channels in this bouquet, which is focused on Basic and Physical Sciences - Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Geology and Geography- is assigned to the EMMRC, University of Calicut. The DTH SwayamPrabha is available at DD Free Dish.
The channel 08- Physical and Earth Sciences

The channel 08- Physical and Earth Sciences- of DTH SwayamPrabha, run by the EMMRC, Calicut University is intended to broadcast high quality, graphically rich educational video contents in the subject areas mentioned above. The basic lectures will be prepared by the concerned teachers and faculty involved in the teaching of these subjects.

To provide quality content for the enrichment of higher education, the EMMRC invites interested teachers of the abovementioned subjects to prepare and enable content for the SwayamPrabha DTH channel - 8. Basically, the content means one hour duration of lecture, based on the UG and PG syllabus under UGC CBCS scheme. Teachers providing the lecture content will be paid an honorarium and also will be issued certificatesfor their contribution.
